POLITICAL RANKS
EMPEROR: The Emperor is the most completely supreme person in the Empire. The Emperor rules by decree. The Emperor does not have to listen to or appreciate any other opinions. The Consulus’ report directly to the Emperor and are voted for by the Senate. Once elected, the Emperor will place the elected Consuli as heads of respective theaters of government. The Emperor can overrule any decision by a Consulus, but a fair Emperor will not. The Emperor must keep alliances. The Emperor can execute anyone in Rome for any reason. The Emperor can control any area of Rome. Taxation, firing and hiring of Generals, and the most important, the selecting of two Legati. The first Legati, or Prima Legati will be the selected Heir. This doesn’t necessarily mean that this person will succeed the Emperor…the Senate or others might block. The Secondo Legati will be the head of the Praetorian Guard. He/She may never be Emperor. For the duration of the Emperor's term he is complete dictator and rules by decree. There is no election for Emperor. The Emperor is encouraged to make decisions and to rule the empire effectively according to how he feels the best course of action should be. Nobody should directly speak to the Emperor unless their title is deserving. The Emperor approves all campaign head and all levels of giving out work duties. The Emperor maintains control over every legion campaign, every legion office, and every legion activity if he so wishes. The Emperor may enact or repeal any law as he sees fit. The Emperor can call for trial for a suspected criminal at any time however the Emperor DOES NOT have to hold a trial this is simply a courtesy. To aspire to Emperor is to hold to most sacred legion office. Once an emperor has been elected, he can only be removed through death (natural or otherwise) or retirement.
REQUIREMENTS: 10 prestige, Succession to the throne, 20 honor.
Minimum Prestige: Elected
LEGATUS:
(2) In Imperial times, there are 2 Legatus which are selected from anyone the
Emperor feels is so deserving. Usually the loyal of an Emperor are rewarded with
Legatus. The two Legati are Prima and Secondo. The Prima Legatus is the
Emperor’s personal choice for heir and has many powers. He or she does not
always make it to the throne if others do not support them. The Secondo Legati
may never become Emperor while Secondo Legati. The Secondo controls the infamous
Praetorian Guard and does the Emperors direct bidding. The Praetorian commander
selects, secretly, those who will serve him to hunt out threats to the Emperor
and kill or imprison them. Legati have more power and a larger say so in the
direction of the Empire than anyone else beside the Emperor. The duty of Legati
is to be always a servant to the Emperor first, always promoting of the Emperor
and his authority. A Legatus should always be assumed to be one of the best and
brightest members. Faithfulness and loyalty should be unquestionable. Legati are
awarded +1 honor as often as once per ten days by the Emperor based upon his
review of their duty.
REQUIREMENTS: 10 Prestige, Imperial Nomination, 20 Honor.
CONSULUS: There may only be five Consuli. Consuli should be unshakably loyal to the Legion, and their oaths. The Senate elects Consuli every term (one month real time). The Emperor appoints from the pool of Consuli in some formal announcement which areas of Government they will oversee. The branches will be Military, Internal Development, Economy, Diplomacy, and Provincial Affairs. The Consuli will approve or fail measures by the Senate that pertain to their office as well as make suggestions for topics. Passed measures go onto the Emperor for final approvals. Honor is earned (+1) for every issue voted officially. Voting will take place on the Senate forum. . A Consulus is expected to do his duties on time and be as loyal as anyone in the Legion. The Consulus duties are assigned to them by the Emperor. To be eligible for Consulus, one must click on the “BALLOT” button when they see it appear on the page.
REQUIREMENTS: 10 prestige, successful election, 15
honor.
Minimum Prestige: Appointed
SENATOR: The Senators are elected from the ranks of Quaestor, Tribune,
and Praetor by all people in Rome. A Praetor must “resign” from the Garrison
page his or her post as General. You must join the ballot when you see the
monthly ballot appear. You may NOT campaign for the position. Your honor
and prestige will speak for themselves. The term will last one month (or
three Roman years). You must meet requirements to enter ballots. Make sure you
go to citizen’s page and fill out promotion so you can be the appropriate rank.
The Senate head will be the one with the most votes, or Proconsulus. Proconsuli
may post topics for the Senate at +1 honor per post. A failed issue by the
Senate head will be a –1 honor. If the Senate fails to post at least 10 issues
and have them voted on within the term, all senators receive a –2 honor to
permanent honor. The Senate will be exactly 5% of the Roman society, but not to
exceed thirty. Senators will retain the rank of whatever they had prior to going
into the Senate when they leave the Senate. The senator can not be promoted out
of senate until his term is over.
REQUIREMENTS: 10 prestige, successful election, 10 honor
TRIBUNE: A tribune is usually a newer member who shows great potential. However, this is still an elected office. Once a tribune, you maintain this position for one term. It is your job to listen to the complaints of Roman’s in the bathes and forums and to plead to Senators, perhaps friendly Senators, to demand the Proconsulus post the issue. When a Proconsulus posts a topic, he will award it to a Tribune if the idea came from one. That Tribune will receive +1 honor. All of Rome will vote for Tribunes, not just senators. Join the “Ballot” when you see the button on the Roman webpage. You may NOT campaign for the position. Do your job well and someone might take notice. Tribunes will make up 5% of Rome. One cannot become Tribune unless being Quaestor.
REQUIREMENTS: 5 prestige, successful election, 5 honor.
QUESTOR: The newest member of the society, who wishes to be politically active. A drive to give something back to the roman community is a must. A moderate level of participation is required for promotion. Eligible to run for senate, or Tribunalship. Must spend 3 roman years (one month) as Quaestor before you can join a ballot.
REQUIREMENTS: 5 prestige, 5 honor. Click promotion.
Official: An Official knows that they are becoming a Politically active person. Once a Patrician, one must wait until twenty five and the appropriate honor and prestige to become a Quaestor by promotion button. Patricians are not mere citizens but distinguished elite citizens and aspiring politicians.
REQUIREMENTS: None but desire to become a politically active Roman.
MILITARY RANKS
PRAETOR: The Praetor is the equivalent of a Consulus, but only in a military sense. A Praetor is a commander of an army, but most likely multiple armies. A Praetor is selected by the Emperor as the Emperor promotes and demotes all military officials through the Avatine Hill page. The Emperor assigns legions to the generals by clicking in the Garrison page on “assign”. A Praetor is a gifted and brilliant commander. He or she is loyal beyond question to Rome and the Empire. Beware Patricians, like Consuli and Senators; they can aspire to usurp the selected Prima Legati for Emperorship. To become politically active, or run for Consulus, or Senate, a Praetor must “resign” from the citizen’s page to the rank of Questor. Being a Praetor will earn honor and triumphs. A Praetor can be nominated for Legatus.
REQUIREMENTS: 8 prestige, successful nomination by Emperor, 12 honor.
GENERAL: A General is the first of the commanders of armies. Though they can only control one Legion at a time, they are judged on their success and can earn all of the prestige and honor as a Praetor. A General may resign at any time to the rank of Questor to become politically active through the citizens page.
REQUIREMENTS: 6 prestige, successful nomination by Emperor, 6 honor.
OFFICER: An officer is a General waiting in the wings. An officer can be killed in battle, but this is the price they pay for awaiting command. An officer might instruct the commander of his legion on strategy. An officer is automatically assigned a Legion when he or she joins as a Centurion. They do not leave this Legion until they become a General and given a command. An officer may resign the position in the army for a political career from the Citizens page and become a Questor.
REQUIREMENTS: 5 prestige, 5 honor
CENTURION: A Centurion is a person who has decided to become militarily active. A Centurion will be assigned a Legion. A Centurion may resign their post at any time from the Citizens page to the rank of Official.
REQUIREMENTS: None but desire to become a militarily active Roman.
RELIGIOUS
ORACLE: An Oracle is the leader of their faith. They direct the faith under their patron god. There is only one Oracle per patron god. An Oracle can call for feasts, plan events, and do everything they can to promote the happiness of the god. The Emperor awards +1 prestige as often as once every ten days depending on how they perform. Oracles may not be married ever. Oracles may not resign.
REQUIREMENTS: 10 prestige, successful nomination by Emperor, 10 honor.
PRIEST: A Priest awaits becoming an oracle. A Priest may be selected from the “Heath” screen to heal a sick Roman for +1 prestige. If the Roman is not strong in that Priests God, the Roman might not receive maximum healing. A Priest can be selected to perform a marriage for +1 prestige from the marriage screen. Priests may not marry nor resign. Maximum of twenty.
REQUIREMENTS: 6 prestige, successful nomination by Oracle, 6 honor.
NEWBIES
CITIZEN
A new member in every sense of the word. ICQ is necessary to aspire to any
higher rank. Once a Citizen is ready to move into an arena of activity, they
select the Arena and automatically move to either Patrician or Centurion. To
become a Priest, they must earn the proper honors and prestige.
Minimum Prestige: 3
A family head will earn +6 prestige while family head. From the family page, members may vote for people to become family head. An age requirement of thirty exists.
Family pages will show total honors from all members combined as well as average honor per member. Members will be listed with honors, rank, age, and marriage. Wealth will also be reflected as total assets and money of all members.
