The gardens were cleaned up, and every inch of Postumus Varro's villa was
prepared for the wedding to Drusilla Maxus. Postumus resented, bitterly, any
invasion of his privacy. It was only through a great deal of coaxing and loving
that Drusilla was able to convince the young Legatus to agree to the marriage at
his own home.
Postumus' villa was grand. With the money from his father and family, he had
built a massive building with huge ceilings and as ornate as could be imagined.
Statues, tapestries, and all manner of decoration lined every room and corridor.
Drusilla Maxus was, to say the least, impressed with such beauty and art from a
man who was so private and loathe to the public eye outside of his duties.
When the final list of some 2,300 guests was shown to Postumus he balked. "This
is an outrage Percas, I wont have two thousand people crawling about the home,
it would be a shamefully display of a lack of modesty!"
When Drusilla caught word of Postumus' reaction to the large ceremony, she gave
in to the small thirty three person list Postumus would finally agree to. "You
know you will give me fits before this is over Postumus" Drusilla whispered in
his ear on their first night.
Postumus smiled "I will give Rome fits before I'm done".
