"where are those damn ships" barked Cassius Lucinius Maxus to one of his
centurions. Cassius Lucinius had been waiting in Lepcis Magna with the III
cohort of the XVII legion for the supply convoy from Rome to arrive. They were
seven days over due.
" We are due back at the fortress in two days." Making a decision Cassius
Lucinius called a man from his Gallic Horse detachment. " You, come here."
" Yes sir." The man stood at attention.
Writing a message down, and sealing it with wax Cassius instructed the man,
"You will take a squad of Troopers, and ride this message to the General back at
camp. It says we will be delayed as the supply ships have not arrived yet. He
will more than likely give you orders for me so you must hurry back."
The soldier saluted "Ave Commander"
"Good then you had better get going while there is still light. May Mithras
be with you." with a crisp salute the soldier turned and departed leaving
Cassius to sit and wait for the transports.

three hours later
-----------------------------
"Sir there is a ship on the horizon" Said a Legionnaire running up to Cassius
Lucinius' tent.
" Just One?" Asked Cassius Lucinius.
" Yes sir, but it has the markings of the Imperial Navy." replied the
Legionnaire.
" Well lets go see if they know where our convoy is." said Cassius Lucinus
Maxus.
From the commander of the ship, Cassius Lucinius found out that the convoy he
was waiting for was attacked by pirates off the coast of Sicily, about three
hours out of Syracuse. It was a convoy of twenty ships, they were attacked by
over one hundred pirate ships and only one ship escaped. Knowing that there will
be no supplies Cassius sat down and began to write his commander of the
situation.
Ave: Antonius Flavus, Commander XVII legion
Sir, I regret to inform you that there will be no supplies from Rome...at
least for now. The convoy in question was set upon by pirates and captured or
destroyed. I will stay in Lepcis Magna until I here word other wise from you,
hopefully there might be others who escaped that may trickle in. I believe that
it is time that the Emperor puts an end to this pirate menace once and for all,
they are getting far to bold. Long Live the Emperor.

"A message comes for you Marius".
Marius snatched the scroll and read it quickly with his worried face turning
to gloom. "It is the news i had been expecting."
An officer poked his nose in "What news Praetor?"
Marius began to make ready for departure "I am replaced. Lucius will be
coming to finish this war. The Emperor doesn't take kindly to failure...I am
luckily not demoted. I only hope I will have the chance to again fight and prove
more worthy."
Marius was gone from the men within a day...to his new assignment.

It had been a month since Tiberius Maxus had received word from the Emperor
that he had been recalled to the army as a Praetor and would be sent to
Maurentia to put down the rebellions. Tiberius arrived in Maurentia two days ago
and he now sat in his camp looking over the information that his scouts had
gathered. The rebels had taken control of several towns. The most important
being Auzia. The other three were merely small towns that held little
significance. The two legions under control were Legions XXII and XXVI. Legion
XXVI was camped outside of Auzia while legion XXII under the command of Graegus
Antoninus Servo remained in their fortress, awaiting orders from Tiberius.
The rebellion was not as strong as the ones seen in Hispania and Gaul. Many
Maurentians did not strongly dislike the Roman presence. Much good had actually
come from it. With the overwhelming force exercised by Tiberius, the rebellious
factions soon were put down. Within a week the whole of the mess was ended. This
was obviously some of the only good news for Rome in the past year.

TO: Tiberius Maxus
Finally the revolt in Maurentia has ended, the last of the rioters were
captured last night while attacking two of my centurions on patrol. Two Weeks
ago, two companies of centurions attacked a small warehouse containing the
leader, 7 rioter and a huge amount of weapons, money, armor, and parts for
catapults. To my surprise the weapons were Aegyptus. From what we found in the
warehouse we easily come to the conclusion that they were about to raise an
army.
After A long week of interrogating their leader and the other 7 rioters in
the warehouse we found that the weapons had just arrived from Aegyptus and that
they were part of the Aegyptus military. Due to their unwillingness to give us
information we dragged them behind a horse for an hour until one of them told us
that they were trying to raise an army and Aegyptus was planning to attack soon.
When we were finished with them we sent them to the capital of Maurentia and
Africa to be an example of what happens when you betray Rome.
