The Black Faction Part 3

GM NOTE: This scenario reflects the game style, ranks, and practices of the "Old Roman Legion" and may not accurately represent the history of the current game's storyline. Consult with a GM before referencing any component of this scenario.

As Rome anxiously waited to see if the attacks were at the end or the
beginning, there were those who wished to ensure the killing was over, and those
who cherished the fear the roman hierarchy now knew. The Emperor was keeping
more to himself and the senate was strangely silent. News from Gaul and Numidia
had less meaning as higher ranking Romans refused to leave their homes without a
Praetorian escort. Lower ranking Romans hired ex-slaves for protection to feel
safe walking the streets.

Although Tomidius Servo's torture tactics seemed to have stopped the black
faction for the time being, some had their own form of justice and any without
proper protection had reason to fear for their lives and the lives of their
families. The merest rumor of a person belonging to the black faction would
cause disruption among the people and death for the unfortunate victim. Rivals
would spread stories about each other in the hopes of finding themselves without
adversary. Through it all Cassius Antoninus Varro made sure to keep his thoughts
to himself while supporting his cousin Postumus Varro. Although there hadn't
been any attacks for some time, Antoninus felt no relief as some were, he knew
there would be more to come when the people let down their guard. Instead he set
out to find those who would be foolish enough to take part in something like the
black faction...
